What we do Last updated or reviewed on December 20, 2024 Explore, Connect, Discover with APR SIGN UP FOR MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Which Parks are Open? On November 25, APR Director D. Tyrell McGirt shared updates on park openings and operation changes. You can watch his presentation on YouTube or check out the slides (PDF). If a park is listed, PLEASE stay away. Though some spaces look safe, there may be broken equipment, sinkholes, or other “unseen” dangers following unprecedented damage from storms in September. Disaster relief agencies continue to assess damage that may be eligible for grants and other recovery resources; unauthorized “help” may make some parks ineligible for this vital funding. If you are interested in volunteer opportunities, please contact parks@ashevillenc.gov. Riverside Cemetery is closed except to those attending funeral services. Memorial Stadium and Mountainside Park are closed for community improvement projects unrelated to storm damage and should reopen soon.
