WNC Nature Center to host 40th annual Hey Day

Celebrate fall with the 40th annual Hey Day fall family festival at the WNC Nature Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 8.

Hey Day is the largest WNC Nature Center event of the year and celebrates the wildlife, culture and community of Western North Carolina.

This year’s festival will feature games, arts and crafts, educational animal programs, live music, local food vendors and a wide variety of exciting wildlife. Entertainment will be provided by Idea Factory Dancers, Mountain Thunder Cloggers, Garnet Ridge Ramblers, Asheville Performing Arts Academy and Professor Whizzpop.

Food will be available for purchase from Captain Dave’s Pirate Dawgs, Kona Ice, Pizza Hut and Ruth & Ranshaw. There will also be a kick-off to the Friends’ fall raffle, with the opportunity to win great items.

Admission to Hey Day is included in general admission, which ranges from $5.95 to $10.95. Children 2 years old and younger get in free.  Members of the Friends of the WNC Nature Center receive free entry to Hey Day.

Visitors during Hey Day or any other time have the opportunity to continue their support of the Center by purchasing a Friends of the WNC Nature Center membership. Among other benefits, members receive unlimited visits — including to special events such as Hey Day — for one year.

Hey Day 2016 would not be possible without the help of the generous sponsors of the Friends of the WNC Nature Center: The Biltmore Company, Carolina Alliance Bank, Jennifer Lanning, White Oak Financial Management, Festiva Hospitality Group and many individuals.

The WNC Nature Center is at 75 Gashes Creek Road. For more information about Hey Day, visit wildwnc.org/HeyDay.
