Asheville Housing Trust Fund applications being accepted

The Glen Rock Apartments in Asheville’s River Arts District offers affordable, energy-efficient one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

The City of Asheville’s Community & Economic Development Department is accepting applications for funding from the City of Asheville’s Housing Trust Fund. Funding is available for affordable housing development, rehabilitation or preservation of affordable housing units within Asheville’s City limits.

The Housing Trust Fund was created in 2000 to provide a source of local funding to assist in the development of affordable housing in Asheville. Assistance is made available in the form of repayable loans at a low rate of interest. Nonprofit and for-profit developers are invited to apply for funding.

The Housing Trust Fund has assisted in the development of several affordable housing developments the past several years, including large multi-family developments of 60 and 120 units and smaller 6-unit developments, all for households in need of affordable, sustainable housing in Asheville.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Jan. 2, 2017, and must be submitted electronically to cdapplications@ashevillenc.gov.  Applications are scheduled to be reviewed by the Asheville City Council’s Housing and Community Development Committee at their January 17 meeting, with awards made by the Asheville City Council.
