Interested in the River Arts District Transportation Improvement Project (RADTIP) and greenway? Come be part of a conversation about riverside ecology and natural habitat during an open house 5 to 7 p.m. April 18 at 14 Riverside Drive.
We will discuss the French Broad River Tree and Riparian Enhancement Plan which will support the natural environment along the east bank of the French Broad River in Asheville’s River Arts District. The City is working to create this plan with the community and we need your feedback.
The City is working with Equinox Environmental, RiverLink and Asheville GreenWorks as part of a Duke Energy Water Resources Fund Grant. The plan will be completed in summer 2018.
What is a riparian area? It includes the area around and just beyond a riverbank. Riparian zones are important in ecology and environmental management because of their role in soil conservation and habitat biodiversity.
