Historic Districts and Design Standards

Below is a list of designated Local Historic Districts, as well as National Register of Historic Places in Asheville and Buncombe County. All properties located within the boundaries of a Local Historic District are subject to design review. Properties located within a National Register District are not subject to design review unless they are also located within a Local Historic District. Structures considered to be “contributing” as part of a National Register Historic District or are individually listed in the National Register may potentially qualify for Historic Preservation Tax Credits for rehabilitation projects.
