The Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville (HCCA) 2021-2022 Community Give Back Program is currently accepting applications from qualified volunteer groups and non-profit organizations for participation in the following venue programs:
- Volunteer Concessions Program
- Volunteer Venue Clean Up
Community Give Back Program Overview
This program allows the venue to directly support and engage with area-based organizations and groups through three main focuses:
- Volunteer Concessions Program: A program designed to enhance the facility’s ability to serve the attending public more efficiently by utilizing local volunteer groups to supplement paid temporary/seasonal staff members.
- Volunteer Venue Clean Up: A program to increase the efficiency of post-event venue restoration, clean up, and recycling/composting strategies by utilizing local volunteer groups to supplement paid venue operations staff.
- HCCA Fan Club & Non-Profit Groups: A direct fan engagement program to allow fans exclusive access to presale codes, ticket events, and select venue experiences as well supporting area-based non-profit organizations through a subscription platform.
Recruitment of volunteer groups will occur every two years unless deemed necessary if groups are removed or drop out of the program. Recruitment will be an ‘Open Call’ format, meaning all interested groups; including groups currently working in the program must apply during each open call. Applications will be reviewed by venue management beginning no later than June 16, 2021. Selections will be made based on groups’ past relevant experience, reference checks, group leader interviews prior to contract execution with any group.

Volunteer Concession Program
This program is designed to enhance the facility’s ability to serve the attending public by utilizing local volunteer groups to supplement paid temporary/seasonal staff members. Additionally, the program offers local volunteer groups an opportunity to directly raise funds for their respective organization or causes by earning a percentage of sales sold during their on-premise event with a guaranteed minimum per stand per each event appearance. Total annual earnings are based on the group’s availability for events, the total number of events at the venue, and sales capacity for each stand as well as all funds received through cash and/or credit card donations. A full schedule of events is subject to change; however, the Food & Beverage venue staff will work closely with management and the volunteer groups to ensure advance notice as soon as possible.
As part of the potential earnings structure, participating groups will earn a minimum of 10% of net food and non-alcoholic beverage sales and 5% of net alcoholic beverage sales in addition to cash and credit donations per event at each respective concession stand. Potential average annual earnings are over $10,000 per volunteer group in the program over a two-year participation window.

Volunteer Venue Pick Up
Launched in spring 2021, the Volunteer Venue Pick Up program is designed to enhance the facility’s waste stream by recruiting local groups to assist our venue staff with accurate recycling and composting management, bulk trash pick up, and venue restoration during the post-event clean up time table.
In exchange for these services, local volunteer groups will receive a flat fee of $700 (arena events) or $300 (non-arena events) in exchange for one shift to last no more than three hours consisting of a designated number of volunteers required by the location and size of the event. Groups of eight and four will be required to perform active shifts for arena and non-arena events, respectively. Annual potential earnings for a group may vary by the availability of volunteers, frequency of events, and number of shifts assigned per season; however, the expected overall annual program net earnings could be as high as $25,000 per year collectively. In addition to the flat rate of services paid by the venue, groups are welcome to collect all aluminum cans during their shift to redeem at a local recycling station for additional revenue.
