City Manager Debra Campbell is pleased to announce that Bridget Herring has been named as the new Sustainability Director.
Bridget joined the City of Asheville in 2017 as the City’s Energy Program Coordinator and replaces Amber Weaver who recently left for a position with Urban Sustainability Directors Network.
In her tenure with the City, Bridget has focused on developing and implementing programs that are designed to help the city reach its goal of 100-percent reliance on renewable energy by 2030. She oversees a wide array of energy efficient and renewable energy projects, including installation of solar arrays on public facilities, replacing traditional incandescent lights with lower-energy LEDs, improving building weatherization, and evaluating progress towards the carbon reduction goal.
Bridget has also served and is currently serving in leadership positions in the NC Building Code Council, Southeast Sustainability Directors Network and the International Code Council.
Ms. Campbell states, “We are thrilled to have found the ideal candidate for Sustainability Director from within our organization. Bridget’s leadership experience and her work in carbon reduction and renewable energy have been invaluable to the continued work of the City.”
Congratulations, Bridget!
