City of Asheville offices will be closed December 25-27, 2023 during the winter holiday break. City offices will also be closed on January 1, 2024.
The following City services will be affected by the holiday closures.
ART bus service
Asheville Rides Transit (ART) holiday schedule will be as follows:

Service will be closed after 6:30 p.m. December 24 (Christmas Eve)

No service on December 25 (Christmas Day)

Holiday Schedule will be in effect on January 1 (New Years Day) ( Holiday Schedule in Spanish, Russian)

Trash, Recycling, and Brush Collection
No trash, recycling, or brush collection on Monday, December 25th.
Collection will run from Tuesday – Friday.
All customer collections (except those in the Central Business District) will be delayed one day. Central Business District collection will remain on a regular schedule.
The Sanitation Office will be closed December 25-27.

As a reminder, 8 food scrap drop-off sites are now open in the City of Asheville and Buncombe County for residential composting.
Asheville Parks & Recreation
All Asheville Parks and Recreation (APR) parks and greenways are open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. every day of the year. Administrative offices and most community center buildings are closed December 25-27 and January 1. Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside, Linwood Crump Shiloh, and Tempie Avery Montford community centers’ buildings are closed December 25-26 and January 1, but open for APR Holiday Break Camp on December 27.
APR professionals are ready to help the community with New Year’s resolutions to continue healthy habits, change behaviors, accomplish personal goals, or focus on self-improvement. Community & Regional Entertainment Facilities

Asheville Municipal Golf Course: will be closed on December 25, 2023, and is open for play on all other dates throughout the holidays. Tee times can be booked at www.ashevillegc.com
Emergency services
All public safety services, including police, fire, and emergency response, will operate to normal schedule – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Water Resources: Staff will be available for water-related emergencies 24 hours a day over the holiday weekend. Customers can call the customer service line at 828-251-1122 to report water-related emergencies, leaks, breaks, and no water calls. In-field teams remain standing by to respond throughout the holidays.
