Over the past week, hundreds of people have been rescued from flooded homes and roads in Houston as residents face devastating rains and flooding, some areas experiencing over 23 inches according to the National Weather Service
Asheville Fire Department (AFD) and Buncombe County Fire team members deployed May 4, carrying with them a wealth of experience, equipment, and unwavering determination as they set forth to assist first responders in rescuing and evacuating those affected by the devastating floods.
Our swift water rescue team embodies the spirit of solidarity and service. Together, they have trained relentlessly, honing their skills and creating partnerships that create solidity. This deployment could extend up to 14 days and team members will be separated from their loved ones and the comforts of home,
We ask that you keep our NC Task Force 2 team in your hearts and minds as they embark on this mission. We look forward to their safe return and are grateful for the expertise and comfort they can provide to the residents of Houston.
