This location is closed until further notice due to effects of Hurricane Helene and other storms in late September. Previously scheduled activities, events, programs, and rentals are cancelled during this time.

Opened as the city’s center for amusement and outdoor activities in 1925, Recreation Park rests on the banks of the Swannanoa River in a sprawling complex that includes Western North Carolina Nature Center, Azalea Park, and John B. Lewis Soccer Complex.

Parties and Rentals

Park benches are available on a first come basis. To schedule ongoing use, add elements to the park (such as tents and inflatables), or host a special event, special permits may be required. Please contact Jon Fillman at jfillman@ashevillenc.gov or 828-259-5738.
