The City of Asheville continues to provide Tropical Storm Helene recovery resource updates on a daily basis.

ART bus service updates

Beginning Monday, October 21, ART bus service will increase the span of service with select routes operating in areas where road conditions have improved. For weekday and Saturday service, the span of service will be extended with select routes operating from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday service hours will resume as normal. ART Bus services will remain free until further notice. Last outbound trips out of the Transit Center will depart by or no later than 7:59 pm. Check alerts for last bus times.

Beginning Monday, October 21:

  • Four additional routes will be brought back online: S1, S2, W5 and 170 – Black Mountain. With the addition of these four routes, ART will have 17 routes out of 19 in operation.
  • In order to provide service between Downtown Asheville and Black Mountain, significant modifications will be made to route 170.
    • For passengers traveling between downtown Asheville and Haw Creek, route 170 will depart the ART station at the top of the hour with the last outbound trip scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays (and 3:00 p.m. on Sundays and holidays).
    • At the bottom of the hour, a second route 170 vehicle will serve stops on Tunnel Rd west of I-240 and provide service to Black Mountain via I-240 & I-40 East. This second route 170 vehicle will not serve stops on Tunnel Rd east of I-240 nor stops in Haw Creek.
  • Note: Flag stops will no longer be available beginning Monday, October 21. Please use designated stops along the route to board the bus.
  • ART Paratransit services are resuming where possible. Paratransit customers should call (828) 250-6750 to schedule transportation.
