On Sept. 6, Asheville City Council will hold a worksession on affordable housing. The session will take place from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the U.S. Cellular Center Banquet Hall, 87 Haywood St.
The goal of the session is to review the realities of local affordable housing needs, barriers to building affordable housing and the role of the City as a partner. Staff and outside speakers will present information on how we move forward together as a community to address this important challenge affecting many residents.
The format, including presentations, will be a roundtable discussion. Please note that this is a Council worksession and there will be no public comment unless Council specifically asks questions of individuals in the room.
Conversation will focus on the complexities around this issue. The goal is to identify the most effective tools the community can use to address the affordable housing issue.
Anyone unable to attend can watch a live stream of the meeting on the City’s YouTube Channel at youtube.com/user/CityofAsheville. Afterwards, a recording of this worksession will be available for viewing at any time.
