Asheville City pools to open for the season on June 8

Get ready to cool it this summer at Asheville City pools. All three pools will open for the summer on June 8. Here is information on hours, admission, pool passes and swimming lessons for the children.

City pools

Recreation Park Pool, 65 Gashes Creek Road: Open June 8-Aug. 11, then Saturdays and Sundays only Aug. 17.-Sept. 2. Hours: Noon to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays. Weekend hours Aug. 17.-Sept. 2 will be noon to 6 p.m. Two lanes will be provided for map swim every day during operating hours. Call 828-298-0880.

 

Malvern Hills Pool, 75 Rumbough Place:  June hours: Noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays; closed Mondays. July 1-Aug. 11 hours: Noon to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays. Call 828-253-1164.

 

Walton Street Pool, 570 Walton Street: Open 1 to 4 p.m. June 8-9 and then noon to 5 p.m. June 15-Aug. 11 and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Call 828-253-1143.

Pool fees

  •         General admission: $3
  •         15-visit pass: $40
  •         Individual season pass: $100
  •         Family season pass: $150 (Four people)

Swimming lessons

Swimming lessons are provided free for school-age children. To register, call or visit the pool where you would like your child to take the lessons.

First session: Monday-Thursday June 17-27. Registration date is June 10.

Second session: Monday-Thursday July 8-18. Registration date is July 1.

Lesson times

Recreation Park Pool: 10-10:45 a.m. and 11-11:45 a.m.

Malvern Hills Pool: 10-10:45 a.m. and 11-11:45 a.m.

Walton Street Pool: 5:30-6:15 p.m.

Splasheville

This interactive splash play fountain in downtown’s Pack Square Park features 21 jets of water that run in 12 combinations. Open April through September, the fountain operates from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily; closed for inclement weather and sometimes for special events.
