There will be street closings
associated with the celebration
You don’t have to go to New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras — Asheville has its own Mardi Gras Parade!
This year’s 10th annual parade kicks off at 3 p.m. Feb. 26 on Wall Street downtown, winding its way onto Battery Park Avenue, then left onto Haywood Street, taking a left again to roll down Page Avenue.
It’s full of fun and frivolity, with colorful costumes, floats and traditional Mardi Gras beads — and it involves street closings downtown.
From 1 to 6 p.m. Feb. 26, Wall Street, Battery Park Avenue, Haywood Street and Page Avenue will be closed. This closing is permitted by the City’s Community & Economic Development Outdoor Special Events Division.
Plan well in advance for parking, which may be tight! Consider taking the ART bus or bicycling. Consider you may need to walk several blocks to the parade if you drive downtown.
Either way, have a great time, Asheville!
