In a continuing effort to increase transparency and provide the community with access to data, the Asheville Police Department has worked in partnership with several community members to release use of force data online through the City of Asheville Open data Portal.
The data will include all records on/after Jan. 1, 2018. The data set includes information on the location of the incident (patrol district, patrol beat), date the incident occurred, type of force used, demographics, injuries (to both subject and officer) disposition and status. The data will be updated quarterly during the first week of each quarter.
The Asheville Police Department will continue to work to make additional data sets available online. Information on traffic stop reports, crime statistics, citizen complaints and other data sets can be found on the open data portal, as well as the Community Crime Map and SimpliCity.
