March 14 snow updates: Roads, rec centers, buses and more

Hello March snow!

Asheville Public Works crews headed out on the roads this morning spreading salt to clear the main roads.  Roads are now mostly clear.

According to the National Weather Service, a winter weather advisory remains in effect for Buncombe County until 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Here are some updates on City services affected by snow:

Asheville City Schools are closed. Asheville City Hall is open.

Recreation centers are closed, except for the Montford Center, which is open for snow-day child care. Riverside Cemetery is closed as well.

All ART bus routes are up and running. Because of snow and slick road conditions, ART buses were pulled for a few hours this morning until road conditions improved. Find updates any day of the week on the Service Alerts webpage. .

Asheville Sanitation, which is scheduled for collection in the East District today, worked on a delay until road conditions improved. Though they got a late start, crews expect to get to everyone today.

Stay safe everyone! The temperature is supposed to rise above freezing this afternoon.

Meeting cancelled: Today’s Community Partners and HOME Consortium meeting for Section 3 brainstorming has been canceled due to inclement weather. Please contact Heather Dillashaw at HDillashaw@ashevillenc.gov with questions.
