FY22 Council Priority Accomplishments: ARPA Funding

The unexpected infusion of 26-million Dollars in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, federal funds designed to support local governments in responding to the economic and public health impacts of 2019,  provided the City with a challenge, but a great opportunity as well. The question:  how will funds be allocated to have the most impactful and successful results? As Kim Marmon-Saxe, ARPA project manager puts it, “we have a great opportunity to work in partnership with the community, to learn together and achieve a successful outcome.”

City of Asheville completes aggregated solar project

Recently the City of Asheville “flipped the switch” on a photovoltaic array, commonly known as solar panels, at the Linwood Crump Shiloh Community Center on Shiloh Road. This is the fifth City facility to include onsite renewable energy production. This completes the City’s portion of projects included in the joint initiative to install solar panels on City of Asheville, Buncombe County, Asheville City Schools, Buncombe County Schools and AB-Tech facilities.

City of Asheville announces Route WE1 service alert starting April 13, 2022

Due to continued driver shortages, the WE1 route will only run once per hour between the ART Station and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Tunnel Rd.
