Celebrated every year in September, National Senior Center Month spotlights how vital these centers are to the health and well-being of communities like Asheville. Senior centers provide support and encouragement to older adults, and offer a place for community members in the prime of life to discover unique interests, talents, and aspirations. This year’s theme is Discover Yours, encouraging older adults to discover new friendships, health and wellness opportunities, creativity, and excitement.
Check out September highlights, weekly classes, and monthly clubs for older adults below. Of course, there are plenty more movement, arts, and games programs for all ages. Check out the current program guide at ashevillenc.gov/apr-guide in English and Spanish. Community members may also search programs in 133 languages via Google Translate’s Website Translator on AVLREC.com.
