Free event offers valuable info on energy efficiency and new technologies

ElectriFair – a first-of-its-kind local event for homeowners to explore an array of clean-energy solutions – is set for Saturday, June 8, at the A-B Tech Mission Conference Center.

The free-to-all public event is an initiative of Electrify Asheville-Buncombe, a newly launched program to help local homeowners learn about, explore and purchase the latest in energy efficiency strategies, especially heating and cooling technology.

Open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., ElectriFair will feature:

  • The future of home heating, cooling and appliances. Get familiar with all-electric residential solutions that can help transition your home toward a clean energy and healthy home lifestyle.
  • An array of local contractors showcasing their electric offerings as well as providing practical insights into electrifying your home.
  • Giveaways, including a free induction cooktop. (Must attend to win.)
  • Live panel sessions plus specialized info on how to reap the benefits of current federal incentives, utility rebates and special financing available only to local residents.
  • EV and electric bike demos. Local enthusiasts will show off their favorite rides and gear.
  • A mobile Tiny Home powered solely by solar energy from Sugar Hollow Solar.

“Whether you’re a clean energy enthusiast, a home contractor or just curious about the movement in America to electrify the built environment, this event is a perfect opportunity to connect, learn and discover the wonders of energy efficient technology,” said Sophie Mullinax of Electrify Asheville-Buncombe. “Don’t miss out on this chance to drop by and electrify your knowledge and home with clean energy solutions.”

“Electrification” is a way to transition from gas, heating oil, or outdated appliances and equipment toward high-efficiency electrified alternatives for homes. In particular, the Electrify Asheville-Buncombe program features a free new online marketplace — LetsGoElectric.com — in which area contractors showcase innovative heat pump technologies, energy efficiency systems, and electrical upgrades for purchase and installation in local homes.

A shared community-wide objective of achieving complete clean energy reliance in the City of Asheville and Buncombe County by 2042 prompted Electrify Asheville-Buncombe’s development and staging of the first-ever ElectriFair.

The event is presented through the sustainability initiatives of the City of Asheville, Buncombe County and by Let’s Go Electric. Event sponsors are: Sugar Hollow Solar, Rhino Renewables Solar & Electric, the Building Science Detectives, Self-Help Credit Union, Duke Energy and Blue Ridge Appliance & Hearth

Electrify Asheville-Buncombe is not just about adopting cutting-edge technologies—it’s about making a lasting impact on the environment. By choosing efficient electric technologies for your home, residents can actively contribute to reducing carbon emissions, help to foster a more resilient community and become involved in pioneering a sustainable future.

In addition to the upcoming ElectriFair, other Electrify Asheville-Buncombe community events and engagement activities are planned to enhance awareness at the city, county and neighborhood level. You can learn about these events and activities here
