Love Asheville? Shop and eat local during LOVE ASHEVILLE GO LOCAL WEEK

 

 

Whether you’re a foodie, a hiker or a biker, or just enjoy the mountain city vibe, there is never a shortage of reasons to love Asheville. The City of Asheville is partnering with local organizations to encourage you to share the love with friends, family and local businesses during LOCAL ASHEVILLE GO LOCAL WEEK.

 

Set for Feb. 10-17, the week of Valentine’s Day,
LOVE ASHEVILLE GO LOCAL WEEK
features a series of special promotions and activities designed
to reconnect the community with downtown Asheville.

 

 

The week will be officially recognized through a mayoral proclamation on Feb. 13.

In support of encouraging residents to come downtown to enjoy the festivities, parking vouchers redeemable for an additional hour free in the City’s parking decks will be available to pick up at  the Asheville Downtown Association Offices at 29 Haywood Street between 5 and 7 p.m. Feb. 10 (Saturday) or at participating businesses throughout the week.

Businesses can participate in LOVE ASHEVILLE GO LOCAL WEEK by signing up to host a special activity or promotion though through this form. Event details will then be shared as part of the overall campaign. Visit website for updates).

 

Feb. 11, Love Asheville, Celebrate Local: Enjoy Asheville’s Mardi Gras parade in the South Slope and after parties.

 

Feb. 12, Love Asheville, Shop Local: We challenge our community to make a pledge to shop local for Valentine’s Day this year. Check loveAsheville.org for a growing list of promotions throughout the week.

 

Feb. 13, Love Asheville, Pack the Hall: A call for community to show up at City Council for the Love Asheville proclamation at 5 p.m. on the second floor of City Hall. Join us for the after party at the Asheville Wine Market’s new tasting room!

 

Feb. 14, Love Asheville, Eat Local: Spend Valentine’s Day eating and drinking at local restaurants with a loved one.

 

Feb. 15, Love Asheville Artists: Visit our amazing artists, museums and galleries, buskers and outdoor art! Take a class! Get crafty with a loved one.

 

Feb. 16, Love Asheville’s Public Spaces: Locals fill the parks and celebrate public spaces throughout downtown.

 

Feb. 17, Love Asheville, Party like a Local: Finish the week dancing the night away at local venues and celebrate!

 

To compliment these activities, the fence at 68 Haywood Street will display a temporary and interactive yarn installation throughout the week.

 

The City is proud to work alongside Asheville Grown Business Alliance (AGBA), Asheville Downtown Association (ADA), Asheville Independent Restaurants (AIR), Lexington Avenue Merchant Association (LAMA), to make this series of events a success.
