The City of Asheville Sanitation Department is currently experiencing equipment malfunction with a large number of the trash collection vehicles and this is impacting some service.
Vehicle maintenance staff is working diligently to repair the vehicles and restore them to service.
Providing timely and efficient sanitation service is important. Collection schedules may be modified this week, which may include delays in brush collection. If you have questions related to collection of refuse, recycling or brush in your area contact City customer service at 828-251-1122.
The City has three trucks in the pipeline for replacement, with 2016 funds, which should be delivered late this summer. There are also trucks scheduled to be replaced with 2017 funds.
In 2014, 22,500 tons of garbage were collected in the City of Asheville.
