Project Overview
The City of Asheville implemented a Business Improvement District (BID) in Downtown Asheville beginning July 1, 2024 following Council Action on June 11, 2024. A BID administers services within a defined district above and beyond those provided by the City. The services are funded through a special tax assessment added to property tax bills within the defined service area.
The City collected additional community input on service needs/priorities for the district prior to issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a contracted service provider on September 20, 2024.
The Asheville Downtown Improvement District (ADID) was selected by the City of Asheville to manage the Business Improvement District after a thorough RFP process. The ADID will be supported by a strong partnership of trusted organizations, including the Asheville Downtown Association, the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, and Nexstreet. Together, these organizations will focus on enhancing the cleanliness, hospitality, and beautification of Downtown Asheville, driving economic growth and enriching the community experience for residents, workers, and visitors alike.
