Stay Active While Parks Recover

Some recreation spaces remain closed due to Helene-related destruction, so check out suggestions for dog park, sand volleyball, skating, biking, and disc golf enthusiasts while we work on long-term solutions.

Which Parks are Open?

  • If a park is listed, PLEASE stay away. Though some spaces look safe, there may be broken equipment, sinkholes, or other “unseen” dangers following unprecedented damage from storms in September.
  • Disaster relief agencies continue to assess damage that may be eligible for grants and other recovery resources; unauthorized “help” may make some parks ineligible for this vital funding. If you are interested in volunteer opportunities, please contact parks@ashevillenc.gov.
  • Riverside Cemetery is closed except to those attending funeral services.
  • Memorial Stadium and Mountainside Park are closed for community improvement projects unrelated to storm damage and should reopen soon.
