Due to a lane closure on Hilliard Ave, expect periodical delays for Routes W1, W2 & W6. Closure will occur daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 3/24/25-3/26/25.
3/18/2025 170 992, 993 & 520

While construction takes place on the New Haw Creek Sidewalk Project, 170 will detour around New Haw Creek Rd, missing stops 992, 993, and 520. During this time, please use the following stops instead:

Outbound: 991 (Old Haw Creek Rd at Trinity Chapel Rd)

Inbound: 519 (Beverly Rd at New Haw Creek Rd) or 523 (Old Haw Creek Rd at Pressley Rd).
 3/4/2025 Until Further Notice N2 255, 257, 258 & 259

Due to an inaccessible roadway, Route N2 is unable to serve 4 stops on Beaverdam beginning at Faircrest Rd. The following stops are temporarily closed until further notice:

  • Stop 259 Beaverdam Rd at Faircrest Rd
  • Stop 255 Beaverdam Rd at Wolfe Cove Rd
  • Stop 258 Beaverdam Rd at Valley Rd
  • Stop 257 Valley Rd at Bear Mountain
2/13/2025 Until Further Notice S5 796 & 417

In order to return access to Walmart on Bleachery Blvd, S5 will now serve stops 796 (Bleachery at Kohls) and stop 417 (Bleachery at Walmart). WE1 will continue to not serve these stops until further notice.

Stops 127, 141, 140, 138, 438, 437, and 436 will continue to be missed until further notice. 
10/27/24 Until Further Notice S5, WE1 Multiple

Due to on-going road closures caused by Tropical Storm Helene, some changes to ART’s scheduled bus service continue. See current and upcoming changes below. All other routes have returned to their original, pre-Helene routes and schedules.

  • Turning around at WalMart on Bleachery Blvd after serving stops 796 & 417.
  • Not serving stops on Swannanoa River Rd, S. Tunnel Rd., Wood Ave., or Cedar St.

WE1
  • Not serving stops between S Tunnel Rd at Swannanoa River Rd and Swannanoa River Rd at Tunnel Rd
  • Will detour to the VA Medical Center by turning around on S Tunnel Rd near the Asheville Mall. 
  • Will now provide service to passengers using stops on Tunnel Rd between I-240 and the VA Center.

8/27/24 Until Further Notice W5, WE1 & WE2 300 & 302 Road closures continue on Patton Ave, detours are in place for Routes W5, WE1 & WE2.  Bus Stops 300(Patton Ave at Otis St) and 302(Patton Ave at Clingman Ave) will be missed.  Estimated time of closure is 24 hours a day until further notice. Please note, closures are subject to change due to weather.

In lieu of Bus Stops 300 & 302 passengers may board outbound buses at the ART Station located at 49 Coxe Ave.

Due to the ongoing City of Asheville’s Stormwater Improvement Project, expect delays for Routes W5, WE1 & WE2 weekdays from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM until further notice.

Due to staff shortages, customer service hours of operation at the Transit Station at 49 Coxe Ave. may differ from regular hours. Until further notice, expect the following changes:

  • On Tuesdays after 5:00 PM, customer service may be unavailable. 
  • On Saturdays after 5:00 PM, customer service may be unavailable.
  • On Sundays & Holidays, customer service may be unavailable. 

To avoid coming to the transit station for customer service-related activities when staff is unavailable, please plan your trip outside the hours listed above and within the regularly scheduled hours of operation. Customer service being unavailable means that riders are unable to purchase tickets, submit and process discounted pass applications, reach the help number at 828.253.5691, and receive information on routes and schedules, among other services.
